I have to say I was being a bit cheeky when I named this painting. I love this scene from Trinity, Newfoundland and this gorgeous garden set near the Artisan Inn. The flowers and foliage seem to be mingling together suggesting a party of sorts. Perhaps in our pandemic times, this is the new definition of a garden party. "A Garden Party"
This summer, I was lucky to join an outdoor painting group at Rosetta Park in Scarborough. As I walked around the park, I was so taken by the beauty of the lake, even at a distance. The pandemic forced me to look harder and look more carefully to find the beauty I was seeking.

On a trip a few summers ago to Vancouver Island, the beauty of this area caused us to abruptly pull over to the shoulder. We saw people swimming in the glacier fed stream. My daughter, cousin and I looked at each other and with barely a word spoken, we shimmied into our bathing suits and dipped ourselves into the icy water but smiling the entire time.

During this pandemic, we have missed seeing our family and friends causing feelings of isolation. The joy that is captured in this scene reminds us of the power of togetherness, the simple moments that we have been missing.
